THE
SOUL AND HANDWRITING is a great classic of the
Jungian system applied to handwriting. The work is divided
into three parts.
Part One - Ania Teillard deals with the
structure of the psyche and its conflicts from the angle
of Depth Psychology. A psychologist herself, as well
as a graphologist, she was in contact with the great
minds whose ideas and practical work were changing the
face of graphology: Crepieux-Jamin, Pulver, Klages and
Saudek. Through her work with C.G. Jung and her application
to graphology of his typological theories (the functions,
the attitudes, etc.) she opened up new avenues for graphology.
Part Two - She applies the theories to
handwriting in a practical way, describing Pulver's
Symbolism of Handwriting at work and its historical
evolution. She follows this with a clearly laid out
'Work Plan', showing the novice graphologist how to
proceed.
Part Three - The 'Dictionary of Terms'
is extremely helpful. Finally, she includes two worked
analyses together with the portraits. The clarity of
her explanations of difficult psychological concepts
can illuminate dark corners even for those acquainted
with the theory. For those new to the subject, it is
an invaluable introduction.
